"King Creole" is one of Elvis' best movies. I was surprised to learn that it was based on a Harold Robbins novel, "A Stone For Danny Fisher". They updated the story and changed the location of the story from New York to New Orleans, and changed the main character from an up-and-coming boxer to a struggling singer, to make it a starring vehicle for Elvis.

Elvis was really a good boy and a shy guy. I don’t know if it’s true or not but one other popular female singer visited him one time in his dressing room and tried to have “(her) way with him” but left, complaining/ commenting to a staff member, “Does he even know how to - -k???!!” That was Elvis… handsome crooner, actor, singer, legend, and yet, incredibly shy inside.
