When I started my career. I was working at a Buick dealer. I had a Grand National come in. The turbo was locked up. The sludge was so bad. The oil feed line to the turbo was totally blocked up. Sad, it WAS a nice car.

Even though I'm now using synthetic, I still change my oil every 3k. Been driving since 1983 and never lost an engine yet, over a million miles driven.

The only way that I have seen to battle this type of sludge I recommend to my customers every 3rd to 4th oil change use a mild engine flush I have been doing that for 20 years with no issues and yes ladies and gentlemen changing your oil frequently is a must I agree with that part.

Hey, how do you feel about those 2.4l multi air engines? Why they always have compression issues

So I’m not like against your choice to replace this engine specifically. But I do gotta say— too many mechanics these days hide behind their title to just swap instead of repair. Theres a smoke screen of higher prices to repair and it’s a weird manipulation to get customers to pay the same book price for the repair as the replacement. All mechanics gotta get better at their trade.
