I'm a little slow. Even after seeing the sign on the door (which I thought was something coloquial rather than literal), I didn't realize that he was blind. Even after watching him rest his index finger on the work while turning (which I wondered about), it wasn't until I watched the video a second time that I realized that he is truly blind.
Great skill! I only wish, for his sake that he could see the beauty of those woods.

I use feel a lot when I’m turning so I totally get how you don’t need to see to get good results. Having said that, he is mad skilled regardless if he is blind or not. It seems like he is turning out quality items, which is impressive on its own. Keep up the great work and I love the positivity you both put out into the world!

Generally John doesn’t work with any lights on, even at night. He doesn’t need to! But during the day the natural light pours in, making it easier to film. Description: Anni walks up to the wood shop door, a sign hanging on it says “The Blind Woodsman”. After she opens the door, John stands in his wood shop at the lathe. He puts on a respirator and face shield and turns on the lathe. He holds a sharp chisel up to a spinning wood piece on the lathe.
