In the last 18 years, I have taken--alone and in various combinations--about 10 different antidepressants. I get about a year on one before it loses efficacy, and then the doc will add more, tweak dosage(s) etc. I get 2-3 years of functionality, a six-month downward spiral, and then go off everything for a month to clear out my system, and then start the whole process over again.
Maybe i should try to get my brain magnetized.

I have also had at least for medications work for a while at separate time and then stop working after a while

Over how much time? I've had way more than 4 medications fail, but I've had more than 4 work. Meds stop working after a while.

in my case it was trying over 12 medications, going to therapy (2 types) for multiple years and being hospitalized without any improvement. at some point we found a treatment that works but it was a long process and took some creativity from the psych doctor.
