We need to make the distinction between farmers and wealthy landowners.
Wealthy landowners have been riding the tax gravy train for generations and the only reason they’re angry is because they’ve been found out.
Real farmers are the ones who do the work.

Sir James Dyson said the only reason he's been hoovering up farmland in the UK was so that he could pass it on tax-free. This is not about farmers it's about landowners who are still getting a brilliant deal as they're only paying half of the inheritance tax that everybody else is.

These farmers will pay half the tax that regular people will pay, get longer to pay it off and also they have a higher amount that is tax exempt compared to the rest of us. If it hadn’t been for the fact that so many farmers were selling land to the rich and those looking to get a tax exemption then chances are the Government wouldn’t have changed anything but as it was the farmers were selling lots of land and the price of that land has shot up in that time.

I know nobody is interested in context or nuance but there was an obscene loophole that wealthy non-farmers were abusing that was actually bad for real farmers and our food supplies.
That loophole is now gone. What needs to happen now is that we ensure something goes in place to protect our food supply and those that nurture it.
