Flew premium economy for the first time recently and it is 100% worth it, especially for longer flights!! Mine was 14 for reference 😂

Premium Economy is what business class used to look like in the 70s and 80s

The premium economy experience varies DRASTICALLY across airlines and even across different models within the same airline. I've seen some premium economy basically being just the front part of economy with marginally more leg room. Other times it's like business class minus the privacy partitions. It really depends on what plane you are getting on.

But emirates premium economy can sometimes be more than business, which in my opinion is better.

I take a different opinion. In my experience it’s very rarely worth it. It costs substantially more and you still cannot get a proper sleep. I either go economy or Business, very rarely feel the need for an in between.

We love premium economy for international long haul. It makes the journey feels like a 5 hour economy flight despite being double the time. I was dreading our 10 hour flight to Tokyo but it went by super fast and my wife and I were both very comfy and well rested when we landed. Such a big difference for us and worth the cost.

Not at all in my experience. For the price of Premium you can book and extra night (or two) at your destination and stay for longer, or spend the money on something else like a MUCH nicer meal at a proper sit down restaurant. Since the price often is almost double that of economy, in my mind it makes no sense to spend that much for a marginally better experience for a few hours.

It is a ~90% premium compared to economy class, and you still cannot sleep. Doesn’t sound like a good deal, and if money is no issue I would always opt for business class. (I checked Lufthansa nonstop MUC-BKK)

I dread the word “Economy” when used for seats.. and when paired “Premium” it sounds oxymoronic. Why not just name it something else..

Economy used to be known as coach, which was reasonably comfortable--and you got fed. Coach no longer exists.

Nowadays, economy is deliberately designed to be uncomfortable in that it's like a flying cattle car, and you don't get fed--unless you pay.

Economy is the new steerage (third class); premium economy is actually best regarded as second class, then there's business or first class.

Flying is usually a disgusting experience for the majority of travellers.

I’ve tried premium economy for 12+ hours flight. Definitely worth it. It was Emirates. But from talking with friends about it, I learned that premium economy varied greatly. Gulf airlines definitely offer better deals. Not in par with North America n Europe airlines.

My last flight I tried Air Canada economy from London to Toronto and Premium on the way back. It's definitely much better than an economy exit row seat in every way except for access and sheer leg room, but I valued the extra recline more (was easier to sleep). It's not as good as business, but it's better value for money and you can easily pay a little extra for lounge access. All you're really missing is the fully flat bed and the extra frills. I would do it again.

In the US, the meaning of Premium economy means 1 extra inch seat pitch and emergency exist seat 💺 nothing Premium.
And, you will be lucky if you stay alive after your Premium seat on emergency exist door below out !

A downside is that the armrest doesn't move, so you can't spread into the next seat if it's free.
In general it's good value for larger people. Less so for medium and smaller people.

Like business class, not all premium economy is alike. Some airlines its just a regular economy seat but with extra leg room, and some, especially long haul aircraft, that has actual wider seats, a separate cabin area and upgraded food and beverage, some priority perks except lounge access.
