Is This Proof Joseph Smith Didn't Write The Book of Mormon?

Did Joseph Smith really write the Book of Mormon? John Hilton III provides an answer to this question by presenting stylometry data. He compares what Joseph would have had to achieve to be recognized as the author of the Book of Mormon, which contradicts the claim made by Moroni that the book was "to come forth by the gift and power of God."

By the way, have you ever read the Book of Mormon? What do you think?

ā€œI have read The Book of Mormon many times. I have also read much that has been written about it. Some authors have focused upon its stories, its people, or its vignettes of history. Others have been intrigued by its language structure or its records of weapons, geography, animal life, techniques of building, or systems of weights and measures. Interesting as these matters may be, study of the Book of Mormon is most rewarding when one focuses on its primary purpose—to testify of Jesus Christā€

It had 150,000 revisions due to his ā€œpoor educationā€. This is such a weak argument.

I joined THE Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints in 1975. I read the Book of Mormon twice that year and found it to be a Book filled with the Spirit of God that was simply written.
The more I study the Book the more I find it to be like a little well that is very, very deep.
Like the smoke from the Alter before the throne of God acendeth up for ever that's how deep I believe the Book of Mormon to be.

ā€œHearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, … and they teach all men that they should do good. And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye—for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory, that they are his words, at the last day.ā€

Or…. Multiple people were responsible for creating it. Hence why the different writing styles.

It is true and good thing to look at. Even a well educated writer could not pull it off. But it makes no differance. I do know this, the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is a second testimony of Jesus Christ. I pray all people would take the time to read it and pray about it.

Joseph Smith did more for mankind than any other man save Jesus Christ himself.
If you do not know that. I PLEAD with you to find out for yourself!!
Read, study, ponder, pray, the book of Mormon. Live by its precepts. You will find Jesus Christ, your life will be TRANSFORMED ā¤ļø

This is good evidence that someone else, possibly Rigdon, wrote the book. Joseph couldn’t remember the manuscript word for word, but he could remember the stories well enough to tell them in his own words. Pretty simple for someone with an excellent memory.

If Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery translated 10 words per minute, eight hours a day, how long would it take them to translate the 269,510 words in Book of Mormon? By doing 10 words per minute, eight hours a day, they could get the Book of Mormon done in 56.2 full working day equivalents. BYU professor John W. "Jack" Welch counted the number of days between April 7 and June 30, which is 85. Subtract 11 full days for trips or times when Joseph was identifiably occupied, leaving 74. Subtract another 16 days of about half-time distractions or other interruptions (business, farming, chores, personal time, visitors, Sundays, church matters and other distractions), and it's down to 58. Another day is taken away for work to receive 13 revelations and you are left with 57.

Of what importance is it to determine that Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery "translated" the Book of Mormon at the rate of 10 words per minute...It's important as part of demonstrating that Joseph wasn't simply making it up. You can't simply "make up" a story of the Book of Mormon’s length and complexity at the furious rate Joseph and Oliver were writing under any conditions, much less the conditions they were in (quill pens and inkwells, no reference material, etc).

I’ll consider this fact when I’m thinking of the 100 other facts disputing the Book of Mormon and Joseph smith’s credibility.

The book of Mormon has 270,000 words in it, there's not nearly enough room on the 40 hand carved tablets!

So you mean to tell me that a man that couldn't read or write and was literally illiterate managed to translate these magical tablets in a language nobody's probably ever seen before including himself that only he can see? And why are his tablets golden and Moses's tablets were stone? We know at least Moses had 40 years as Egyptian royalty was clearly a well-educated man who could read and write

I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God because He has answered my prayers. It is the only way to know of its veracity. Eventually, archeological evidence will catch up with the truth, and yet many may not believe.
