Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar stepped down from his post on Monday, saying he wanted to focus on his health and follow medical advice. His resignation took effect immediately, as per Article 67(a) of the Constitution.

Jagdeep Dhankhar had been the Vice President of India since 2022. Before that, he served as the Governor of West Bengal from 2019 to 2022.

In his resignation letter, Dhankhar thanked the President, Prime Minister, and Members of Parliament for their constant support.

“To take care of my health and follow the doctor’s advice, I am stepping down from my duties as Vice President of India with immediate effect under Article 67(a) of the Constitution,” Dhankhar wrote in his letter to the President.

He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the President of India, appreciating the positive and respectful relationship they shared during his time in office.

Dhankhar also thanked the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, saying their help and guidance meant a lot to him and taught him many valuable lessons.

He further appreciated the Members of Parliament for their warmth, trust, and affection, saying these memories would always stay close to his heart.

Dhankhar said it had been a great honor to serve the country and be a part of India’s rapid growth and development. He called it a proud moment to witness and contribute to the country’s progress during such a historic time.
