The DW range of laser levels are not wired, but also not powered by 12/18v batteries. They're powered by AA batteries
Thats probably why they decided to go for DW

If you knew how many hours Iโve sat researching DeWalt tools trying to find out the difference in same/ similar items before purchasing. I wish I had know this sooner.
