Microservices (as physical boundaries) are not solving architectural problems. They are solving operational problems - independent scaling, release cadence and risk reduction.
My place has an event sourcing module that runs in process with the monolith app. Quite often it would be very useful to be able to increment the eventing infrastructure without touching the application code. Why? Our clients are very picky about when they upgrade.
Teaching people the microservices are not a silver bullet is very useful, as is the logical/physical distinction.
