Most people have a hard time starting or maintaining a gym routine 💪 If you’re having trouble getting started or staying consistent with a workout regimen this works almost 100% of the time.

Do less. If doing p90x or going to the gym before or after work 5 days a week isn't sticking as a habit ... start reducing the goal.

By lowering expectation and then celebrating the smaller easier “win”. You will build the habit with a much more solid foundation. Most people can benefit greatly in the long run by just setting smaller fitness goals and letting the habit and consistency grow.

For instance, your goal was to go to the gym 5 days a week and you keep getting upset because you never stick to it. Try 3 day a week for a month. If that doesnt work try 2 days a week. eventually you will get to some frequency and duration that is easy enough for you to do. If you don’t make it even 1 day then lower the goal again. Maybe it’s just running around your block once or doing 10 push ups in your bedroom 🏃

Not with food but with someone that isnt counterproductive to your fitness goal. Buy the shoes you wanted go to the concert you wanted to go to.

Once you do the smaller action reward yourself. Celebrate it. Don’t think “oh that wasn’t a big deal, I only went to the gym one day”. Instead think “I just went to the gym finally!” Then reward yourself. 🥳

Reward yourself with something that isnt counterproductive to your fitness goal. The size of the reward isn’t so Important. Buy the shoes you wanted, go to the concert you wanted to go to, or even let yourself watch that tv show you wanted to catch up on. just don’t make it something that goes against your new gym success like unhealthy food or drinks. That’s a common mistake people make. “Oh I was so good this week, I’ll have McDonald’s” 🙅🏼‍♀️

This framework might seem simple, but try it out. It works REALLY well for behavior change.
You just created a habit loop.

You now have a workout routine that you can stick to. And the fact that you placed a reward at the end primes your brain to want to repeat the same routine in this case going to the gym 2 days a week. do the for months until its an easy habit, then build from there. You can use this frame work to do anything you’ve been struggling to do or stay consistent with. Just make the action smaller, and once you do it reward yourself.
