That's a bad idea. It gives the psycho child the ability to extort their parents.

I'm at a point where I'm glad my kids are full grown adults and my child-raising years are miles behind me.

It doesn't make any sense to lock the parents up as this only adds to the taxpayer burden for incarceration at from $73,000 to more than $100,000 per year per inmate. What does make sense is to make the parents responsible for the incarceration costs of the child for as long as he/she is in prison. Room/board/clothing/shoes/medical/dental/vision/ongoing legal fees,etc.

Parents should be held accountable for this one they provided him a gun and ignored many many red flags because they were too busy to take care if their child

Hello NO!
The family that turned in one of my mother's murderers would not have done so, when the consequences would have landed her auntie in jail, too.

So parents responsible for kids actions... But minors are old enough to decide their own gender, sterilize themselves, etc.? Just make it make sense please.

If you don't make reasonable efforts to secure your weapons and your underage child uses them to commit a crime, you should absolutely be held at least partly responsible.

At this point do parents or schools raise kids? I mean school have your kids many more hours than you do.

as a father of 4 young kids, i agree, whole heartedly. parents should absolutely be held responsible for their childs actions. if would make more parents be involved and actually parent their kids. you would have a bigger incentive to teach good value and morals. nowadays parents dont parent.

No not really. The implication here is the parents failed to properly secure the firearm.

The gun he used was also a gift to the child which he isnā€™t of age to own the gun yet.

So the parents actually violated the law, they arenā€™t being held responsible ā€œjust becauseā€

@EazyEDC

What are you talking about? The precedent is already that I parent is responsible for their kid until they are around 18..

Either raise ur kid or suffer the consequences.
