The fact that an insurance company can toss some money to victims of crash and just let them fight over it, and be legal, is awful.

About five years ago my daughter-in-law was hit by a neighbor. It was a case similar to this, (multiple parties, low insurance pay-out) I said "do you know where this guy lives", he gave me the address of the guy (he was like two blocks away and his house was actually one house "off the water" of a large reservoir). I checked the address. It was mortgage free and over 350k value property tax wise (which means in my area you add about 20% more for market value). I told my son to call him and tell him he needed to give him a check for 10k to cover damages the local body shop wanted to repair car. The guy said no. My son said I know your house is mortgage free and you have money. He said his insurance said they only had to cover what his policy covered. My son said yeah but you are still responsible, and he said so sue me. It never went to court, his lawyer actually called my son that night and made and settlement offer of 9 k. My son laughed at them and said, "no thanks, his cousin was filling the papers tomorrow". They got 15k check hand delivered by para-legal next day, (apparently the guy had a friend/family lawyer also) lol.
Sold the damaged car and took the cash and bought brand new car.
What does this all have to do with Mike's short? Well, a little, but I'm bored and killing time, lol.

crazy that insurance companies can limit claims legally to only 20 000$ or 100 000$
here in germany most car insurances that also are mandatory go up to 100€ million on a per case base
every individual claim is limited to 15 million for personal injury (or 12 with cheap providers) or 10 million for personal property
its also not really possible to have no insurance here and or insurance with lower max claims
euros also have basically the same value as us dollars

So if I have the broken wrist, I need Mike Rafi to be my lawyer and explain to the guy’s lawyer with the punctured lung that I can no longer play piano while his client still has one perfectly good lung, so I deserve the lion’s share of the money.😂😂😂

17 years ago I hit a car that run the red light, I broke a knee, needed surgery and had to use crutches for 4 months. The other driver was under insured, but I had uninsured/under insured coverage, so I got 15,000 from his insurance and 15,000 from mine.

I had this happen to me, but I was hit by a horse, no seriously.
Turn out the horsehead hit somebody else several months before
And killed them.
So yeah their family got the majority of the money from the insurance company, as they should.
This speaks to a bigger problem about insurance

Three injuries and one person got a punctured lung, and you guys only got $100,000 to divide? That seems really low to me.
I mean, you said Allstate was the worst, and 10 years ago when I had Allstate, it was paying out $200,000 per person for anyone injured. And I had Allstate because it was cheap, the only special extra I was paying for was glass.

The problem is the amount the insurance company will cover and the person who messed up probably not being able to afford everyone’s medical bills either.
