Uh. Millennial here. My dad was a boomer. He worked until he was 61. He saved all his sick days, vacation days, his last day to show up at work was the day before thanksgiving. He died 12/18. His official retire date wasn’t until march cuz he saved all those days. Go out & live your life, otherwise it passes you by, his role outlived his life. My mom’s 71 now still working. Full time

My grandfather who raised me was a jack of all trades but spent the last twenty five years of his life fixing car radiators and going on tow truck calls. He had a stroke, spent two months recovering, went back to work and we lost him four months later to stomach cancer. He worked three of those...

I’m a 1968 Gen X, most of us started working at like 9 or 10 with doing paper routes, baby sitting, mowing lawns, raking leaves, shoveling snow, delivering groceries, etc. Work/life balance for us was after 5pm and before 8am.
Showing up to work with hand stamps, and maybe even the clothes from yesterday because we only had an hour sleep before punching in…

My mother is Silent Gen. The woman was TICKED when she was told she shouldnt work anymore after a stroke at 75yrs old. One of ther jobs let her go and washed their hands of her the other showed her compassion and created a job she would safely be able to do after her year of rehab. Its been nearly 10 years and she is still working for them with no plans to stop.

Millenial here. I've had to try and do two jobs because I LOVE one, but needed the other for the insurance. I finally gave up on the one with the insurance, and focused on the trade of the other store. I still work as much as I can. If they can give me the 40 a week, I work them. But ALSO, I have had to learn to say no to taking every day as a work day. Like he said, give yourself a day to BREATHE. You spend enough time at the job. Go see your family.

People thought I was crazy to never take a sick day. I ended up in a major accident. I had enough time on the books to cover 6 months of me not working. Prepare for a rainy day 🌧️ while the sun is shining and you're young and healthy. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it

The country and economy was not the same for each generation. The silent generation ran their own farms, and the boomers ran their own businesses as well. GenX worked for companies yet there were still some "mom and pop" businesses to work for. The younger generations are working for giant, multinational, greedy corporations. These corporations were recently able to usurp residential housing as well, destroying the ability to own a home for most. If the younger generations don't want to show up for that, they have my full support.
