Try dropping frozen crab in a pot of boiling water for 30 seconds before continuing with your preparation method
It removes the ice glaze, which usually has some sulfites in it, plus the salt brine, making the crab less 'previously frozen' tasting

Please try mud crabs form the Australia. If you could somehow get your hands one that would be awesome. Completely different to the rest with an amazing unique taste.
