Generating the Sierpinski Triangle on top of the circle of fifths using the chaos game.

Using the notes C, E, and Aā™ (an augmented chord) as the corners of a triangle, the Sierpinski Triangle is generated via the chaos game.

A note for those wondering "what does this have to do with the circle of fifths?"

A primary topic on this channel is exploring generative methods of algorithmic composition of music, and pairing them with algorithmic/mathematical visualizations.

The underlying process here is the well-known "Chaos Game" method of generating the famous Sierpiński Triangle (aka Sierpiński Gasket).

The circle of fifths is placed here as a means of auralizing (adding sound to) the visualization. The circle of fifths does not somehow "generate" this process itself. The chaos game process exists as a standalone concept, and it's being used to "play" the circle of fifths, as a way to "hear" the chaos game process.

In the related long-form video, this process is applied to a hexagon fractal and a dodecagon fractal on the circle of fifths as well. There's no claim that this process "arises" from the circle of fifths. The circle of fifths is just a vehicle for generating "music" from this process.

Love it when the Sierpinski triangle just shows up uninvited. Happens way more than youā€™d think.

Good thing chaos didnā€™t randomly select a starting point between the edges of the main triangle and the circle...
Cool triangle beep booper though, fun to watch.

I appreciate someone showing that the first few iterations of this are outliers. I only ever see it where the empty space is 100% empty and thatā€™s obviously confusing because in that case, what if I started where itā€™s empty?

What I think is even cooler is the fact that each of the 3 outlying points that are visible within the empty spaces of the final shape are in the same positioning in comparison to the triangle in which they appear.
