This video is for replacing the main brush belt of the Shark Apex vacuum. Similar to my other video for replacing the front brush roller, you can do this quickly with only a few tools.

There are plenty of videos on how to clean shark vacuums, but this is the only video I found that actually shows how to take apart the vacuum for maintenance/repairs. Thank you SO much for making this video!! ā¤ā¤ā¤

One thing to add to this EXCELLENT video is that there is a second smaller belt at the other end of the roller that drives the front brush. When reseating the main roller make sure it gets inserted into that second belt. That belt is not under tension so you shouldn't have to remove it's panel. My vac works great, but I now hate the company for this.

Thanks for the video. The bigger roller was moving, but with great difficulty. The red light was coming on after a few seconds. The problem ended up being gunk/dirt/etc being stuck on the end of the roller inside the housing. It had built up so it was impinging the movement of the roller. It would move but only with extra manual force. Once I watched your video it helped me know how to get the parts apart. (Shark sure makes it hard to repair their stuff. Part of their business model it looks like. As a result next time we buy a vacuum it will definitely not be a Shark.) I was able to get it all cleaned up and functioning properly - but only after watching this video and going to home depot to buy the specialized tool that it requires due to the very specialized screws Shark uses. Thanks

Funny, I ordered both the main and front roller belts because I didnā€™t see the main roller turning. Because Iā€™m not the actual user/operator of this thing, I didnā€™t know that you have to lean the vacuum back for the main roller to start turning! Oh well, at least I have the belt in case it ever does break!!!

Thanks for doing these videos- youā€™re helping so many people!!

Thank you! We were having the hardest time trying to figure out how to take out the roller. We needed to clean out the hair that accumulated in the ends.

Thanks for this, was able to get my shark vacuum working again. Had to use a safety pin and flathead to clear debris from the roller brush

The belt malfunctioned causing the brush role to crack through the plastic housing around it.
I do not think it is fixable
