Fundamentally speaking:

šŸ”¹ Leaders cannot delegate their responsibility
šŸ”¹ Leaders can only delegate their authority
šŸ”¹ Leaders must hold their team AND themselves accountable to the same standards
šŸ”¹ Standards are not what we preach, theyā€™re what we tolerate
šŸ”¹ There are no bad teams, only bad leaders

If a service facility has high turnover, Iā€™d take a good hard look at the leader long before Iā€™d blame inanimate things like the industry.

Who are the custodians of the industry? Who creates the culture?ā€”Itā€™s the leaders through their people.

So if we are going to blame the industry for any negative circumstances regarding its people, we need to be looking at the leaders.

Leaders and people are eternally linked. Itā€™s people who decide a leader, and if they choose to work somewhere else for someone else, they are exercising that choice.

This is not a beat up the leader post, itā€™s more of a wake up call. People are paying attention. Theyā€™re talking. Theyā€™re starting to see things for what they are.

So leaders, I encourage you to ask yourself:

šŸ¤” ā€œWhat kind of leader am I today? And what kind of leader do I want to be? How can I better serve my people?ā€

āœ… Leadership is a skill. Letā€™s start training it.
