Disney actually did have a good attempt with a short called “The Paper Man”. It’s how this style was invented. It’s just a shame it was never elaborated on.

While not 3D animation, I loved Klaus and I truely think it had some impact. If not it’s still gorgeous art.

One of the first was actually a shortfilm called the Wingfeather saga, a book adaption that bassically used the style of spiderverse and puss in boots years before they came out. (The shortfilm is now made into an animated series still using the same artstyle, just slightly lower budget.)

I'd love people to start using spiderverse or puss in boots 2 style animation a bit more. Not every studio for every movie, they're just visually appealing and have been done right.

At first I thought wish was gonna have a stylized animation of making it a 2d movie with 3D elements but it never ended up to anything

Don’t forget that cell shaded cgi was a thing. 2010’s “Chico and Rita” and 2011’s “The Painting” were some of the first instances of the 2-D/3-D hybrid look, meaning spider-verse owes them some thanks.

The way it's is reminds me of
A Kid telling a joke in class and no one gets it but another kid says the same joke but louder and everyone laughs.
Peanuts Movie made the joke but Spiderverse used the same joke and everyone thinks Spiderverse was the first one to do it 😂
