I recently realized my two boys 9 and 6 like to talk at night when they’re supposed to be sleeping. At first I was going to stop it but then I thought “hey it would’ve been so cool to share a room with my brother and get to have that bonding moment”. So I left them to it. Also so cute hearing them “whisper”.

This! My brother and I have a terrible relationship because even if we were just talking with each other growing up, my parents would "intervene" to prevent a fight or even just tell us to keep quiet. If you want a good relationship, you have to let them have the space to build it themselves!

Honestly, I can see it for multiple reasons. The obvious is simply that she's their sister, and she's sneaking them treats out of love, not to be disrespectful to you. Slightly less obviously, one day they're going to have a problem they don't know if they can trust mom and dad not to overreact to. Big sister's always been on their team, so it'll make sense to go to her instead. A trusted adult will never be hard for them to find, a few years from now.

I told my sister this once when she came home and I had been babysitting. Her 2 kids shared a room and you could hear them whispering and giggling through the door. She asked why I hadn't gone in there and told them to quiet down and go to sleep. I told her "the light is out, they're in bed, they'll sleep when they're tired. Right now they're bonding. If they're gonna hate each other later, why ruin this now?"

My parents didn't do this, and it ended up causing some rifts between me and my siblings.
This is a fantastic parent behaviour. You're letting them be each others friend. That's so, so important to let them have each others back.
