My first car was a Toyota Camry. Rust got it eventually, but that's my own fault for lack of maintenance. That engine was probably going to outlive human civilization.

Old Toyota, not new Toyota. I would say pinnacle of reliability were the 90s Lexus models.

73 AMC Javelin, 232 cid 6 cyl. added an after market shifter (Hurst). Kept maintained, put 300,000 miles on it. Went through 3 clutches throwout bearings and pressure plates. Brakes 5 times a dozen belts front wheel bearings 2 times, ball joints 2 times, all shocks 3 times, tie rod ends 2 times, 6 rotors, 30 spark plugs, 4 sets of plug wires, 6 caps. 1 complete exhaust system. In my experience it was a great car. Oh 1 heater core and 2 water pumps and 2 alternators. The key is maintenance maintenance maintenance! All parts bought at NAPA all work done by myself. That was just over $2,000 worth of parts. The car cost $5,600

The Toyota helix literally won a war and is called the modern war chariot of the Middle East. Just saying.
