A hunter once shot a grizzly bear who charged him. He shot the bear with a high-powered rifle.
However, the bear kept coming. The hunter out of fear dropped his rifle and ran.
He ran about a quarter mile, looked back and then stopped.
Over the next hour he back tracked to retrieve his rifle, 44mag revolver in hand. Then he came across the grizzly, it was dead. The grizzly had taken a shot through its heart and still kept coming. It had passed over the dropped rifle and still ran about 150 yards before dropping.
Just sheer brute strength. Had the hunter stood his ground for the second shot with his rifle, well, needless to say he would be dead.
