This practice is based on our innate primal need for soothing touch, and our instincts to offer comfort to others. We can nourish ourselves with gentle touch, through self-havening!

The idea is to offer firm but gentle movement downwards on our shoulders, arms, face, and neck. The soft downward movement can be very calming to the nervous system.

Just like we might offer a comforting touch to a child that is upset or a friend who is grieving, we can do this with ourselves whenever we need it.

I use self-havening whenever I feel sad, am doing inner child healing work, am processing grief, or even to anchor in a happy or positive experience!
