In these cases, I believe ppl don't understand what introversion is. It is how we process information. Yes, you can learn skills how to act in certain work situations more extroverted, but you can not be both.
Introverts are at best on 1:1 or in a small group, especially if you know everyone in the group.

I'm an ambivert but I'm also Highly Sensitive so my triggers tend to revolve around too much sensory stimulation. I have to be pretty social for work since I'm a consultant, but prefer to spend a lot of my free time alone, in the forest.
