Next time you want to add depth and pop to your color pencil background, use this trick.
Color circles or other shapes on another paper using color pencil/watercolor/acrylics and then cut them and stick them on strategic parts of the background.
This will make the portrait look contemporary without you trying too hard and it will give the painting and background a nice pop of color. Try it and let me know.. Take care and keep painting..
