I like it drive forms were great to use and able to use there special Abilities in his base is a nice touch.
to me it felt like sora was learning from his drive forms taking in what he is able to do in them and learning how to use them in his base form showing his growth and how adaptable he is from his experiences.

That's a well intended idea, but it misses the landing.
Sure, giving unique rewards to using each form is fun.
But if you actually want to incentivize players to use various forms the rewards should encourage that, maybe make them give a rare form upgrade material or improve abilities of a different form. Something that encourages players to try out a different form again now that the player has spent a lot of time on that one form.
Making them give movement abilities instead is kinda fun, but makes the experience feel like an unrelated chore to grind for many.

There's an important trade off to this. Since you can't be expected specifically to level up the abilities, the worlds can't be designed around them. That's why every world was a flat sandbox and only the puzzle pieces hinted at developing the abilities. That being said, I wish the FormChanges could be improved more akin to the Re:Coded Keyblade leveling for more combos and technical abilities.

The issue with them is that you had to level the drive forms and the game doesn't actually explain how each of them levels without going to a specific part in the menu that most people didn't. Most people's first playthroughs did not involve leveling all or even most drives. My first playthrough of KH2 I didn't have Dodge Roll, Aerial Dodge or Glide. I had no idea how I got quick run and high jump. I had no idea the other growth abilities were even in the game. And mind you, my first time playing KH2 was on Crit mode. I could clearly have benefitted greatly from those abilities.

Actually I'll have to disagree with this but just on one part, don't take dodge roll away from us!! After playing kh3 a lot, specifically lvl 1 run, going back and starting my first kh2 lvl 1 run... Pressing the block button thinking I'm gonna dodge has killed me too many times. The other ones are good though
