In Psalm 109: 4 the poet responds to being accused in return for his love. Instead of returning evil for evil, the poet embodied prayer, desiring good for his enemies. This reminds us of Jesus when he said to (Matt 5:44).
Transcript: Hello my friends. I’m gonna make this video quick because I have to go. Psalm 109 verse 4 reads, In return for my love they accuse me, but I give myself to prayer. That is, he has given love and in return for his love people have given him evil. Maybe you’ve experienced something like that. What’s interesting is that the line, give myself to, is actually not in the Hebrew. In Hebrew it just reads, Va’ani tefilah. I prayer. And the word for prayer, tefilah, is in an absolute state so technically it could be translated, I am prayer. And this is a beautiful response on behalf of the poet. While people have returned evil for his love, instead of returning evil for evil, he has embodied prayer, desiring good for his enemies, or rather for the people that he loves who have let him down.
