My Mother died of Alzheimer’s Disease twelve years after her diagnosis. She spent six of those years at home until it was evident she needed 24 hour care. Dad visited her everyday and we brought her home every Saturday night when we all visited. Every holiday we could bring her home for the day. We had to carry her in and out of the car at the end but we had enough family that we had the manpower. The family would decorate her room for the holidays and have parties and get togethers in that room. We grew stronger together. Dad would take Mom drives about twice a month and we would eat out in the car and Mom got to see different scenery than a nursing home .Love survives and grows and we all learned how much love and what family really means. Your family has grown closer with your Dad’s health problems. Sometimes families grow closer and learn so much more in sickness than in health.

I met Bruce once while I was in the Navy. He and the cast of Tears of Sun were onboard my ship. U.S.S. Harry S.Truman CVN 75. It was an honor to meet him. He was smiling and signing autographs with the cast. I shook his hand and told him I’m a big fan. Thank You Bruce Willis. God Bless. I’m praying for you!
