This is a great example how not to fight. Everyone wants peace and excitement. Throughout the movie you find out they do something together on Sundays, they are on a bowling team, the have a game night with friends and he mentioned they just went on a trip, a trip she really wasn’t into, but still it’s not like they sat home every night. So, it’s safe to say that three nights a week they are actively doing something with each other and friends. It sounds like resentment on her part has built up. That’s on her not communicating her needs. He feels criticized so he just wants to ignore her and be left alone. It’s not about who is right or who is wrong here, it’s about having healthy habits. Conflict will arise in all relationships, it’s actually a healthy aspect of relationships. Even though they got into a fight, he wasn’t going to walk out. She rejected him and walked out. Then quickly, wants to hurt him by going on dates, getting him kicked off the bowling team, having her brother practice with his singing group to disrupt his peace, all trying to prove a point that she was the glue that held it all together. Then his bad behavior comes out. It’s all just bad. I think it comes down to two people who don’t communicate, who are hurt and don’t know how to compromise and in the end after time, you can see they both regret how it all went down. It’s a shame. Many relationships end this way. Communication is so key, along with trust, intimacy, emotional intelligence, compromise, self reflection, and safety.
