The color tent is added to the mud when you’re doing touchup so when the mud dries it stays colored, so you know What arias to SAND

Its dye for finish work, makes it easier to sand when you come back a day later off a bender and cant remember where the patches are

I’d say it’s so you can see your patches on white walls cause the mud will dry white and make it hard to see all your patches

I use chalkline chalk to color it, it makes it easier to see where you spread mud on a white wall. It works especially well when using spray texture.

A dye. He has completed 3 coats and samded. He then has given the contractor a light check. The contractor will spot check the walls and mark it. He then mixes his mud adds the dye fills the areas needing correcting and can easily find them, and sand appropriately vs sanding the whole wall, and having to redo a large area.

Mud dyes are for multiple layers for level 5 finish. Like bodywork final blocking.

It is paint tint. The tinted mud is easier to see when sanding patches.

It’s dye. You can also add Dawn soap to it as well to make it better.

The dye is really useful when you are doing extras. Your worker dyes their finish coat, and your foreman/PM can just walk around and see it. It is a simple visual aid.

Multiple reasons helps find patches and on some jobs they have you do it if you are sub contracting and doing peice work to help separate your work from others

could be dye for a final coat but most people i know just just chalk but i’ve seen drywall outlets sell dye packs it also could be glue he’s mixing with lite form mud so he can tape with it

Tinted mud is used usually to distinguish from first and second coat. So you know what to sand and what not too

its to help with flashing by tinting the compound. When you sand it the surface will change color so you know where you worked. It doesn't bleed through the paint so its a good option for a flat wall.

It helps with seeing what you are doing when finishing drywall.don’t do it👍🏾don’t add anything in your mud not any tint or soap,it’s good for the drywall finisher but not for the painter depending on what type of paint they are using. The paint doesn’t adhere properly and peels off when rolling a wall out. I was taught drywalling and finishing by a painter and the first thing that I was taught was to never put soap, dye or any additives to lightweight mud when finishing and learned the hard way cause I was also the painter

It’s a dye that allows you to see if the mud is dry or not. I’m guessing it goes on yellow but dries a different color. I use one that’s pink instead of yellow.

It’s call (tint) for your compound. Doesn’t make any difference if you use it or not. It’s insures that the paint has to make two coats

I was always told not to eat the yellow mud.
