Canon should update the G1X lineup since there's a market for a compact, fixed lens APS-C camera since the X100 series and Ricoh GR is really popular to this day. While the zoom lens has a slow aperture at the long end, it still offers something different compared to the competitor. If they decide to update it, perhaps change the body style to something similar to G5X with the pop up EFV.

I’m always surprised how Canon fumbles the bag with some of these early classics. They should have followed Sony’s lead w/the RX100 and just keep refining and upgrading these until they are damn near perfect.

I have this camera and love it. People do not realize in order for Canon to make the camera small with a zoom lens and an apsc sensor there would have to be compromises. It is Canon's engineering at its finest. So well built. Where they went wrong with this camera was not to include a mic jack for video. People complained about that alot at the time of release.
