When I was a kid, my school never questioned almost half the boy students missing during the first couple days of any hunting or fishing season. Good small township schoolπŸ˜‚

The moment he said identification won't be necessary, I'd say well then my attendance isn't necessarily necessary, and shut the door in his face.

My school district growing up gave the entire district the day off on the first day of deer season, occasionally the first two, and allowed up to i think 10 days of excused absences for the purpose of hunting during deer season πŸ˜‚

As a teacher, I'd use my mental health days to go snowboarding and would often run into my students who also like to snowboard. Nature is a great brain reset ❀

Look here. Im a native Montanan. I we didn't get our meat during hunting season, we were eating chicken. We didn't have the money to buy meat from the local Safeway. Teaching your kid were meat comes from is priceless

Hunting is important. It teaches how to properly handle a gun, how to provide for the family, how to prepare meat, and stuff which is all useful if they use it in the future.

I missed a week in October for a family hunting/fishing trip. And I got out in November for deer season, along with 80 percent of boys at my school. U get ur homework early, do it, and take any tests when u return. In Wisconsin, deer season lines up with Thanksgiving, so it was only a 3 day week anyway.

Homeschooled most of my life, never had to report to ANYONE outside of my family. Came into our co-op once after dropping a dear in our backwoods. Blood on my jeans and praise from all the hunters in our co-op, felt like a superstar that day. Also, considering the state of our education system, I'd say some practical experience would actually do the kids some good.

One thing I loved about my dad, in the first 2 weeks of school we would go on our annual vacation to the beach, because that's when everything was cheaper. He did not let anyone tell him how to raise his kids. Whenever they had a problem, he would ask them if I had the grades of someone who needed to attend every day. When I got to the age of 12, he would pick me up early every Friday so I could skip the double maths period, because I hated maths but was good at it.
I still got a full scholarship to attend a private high school even though I skipped maths every Friday and missed the first 2 weeks of school. πŸ˜‚ My dad was legendary

When I was growing up in my small 1500 person town, the opener of hunting season was a literal recognized "holiday". 2/3 of the students and teachers were absent so the schools shut down for a day or two. Speaks volumes to the importance of hunting and keeping your family fed.

Teaching children something for life, expecially how they take care of their own food is way more important than math❀

We had some excused absences for hunting, but if you looked in the school parking lot there were deer rifles in every pickup out there. The MINUTE school ended, folks would drive out to their hunting spot.

We also could re-blue barrels and make stocks in shop classes. AND, if you got the big buck that year you won that SWEET Browning rifle that had been on display for weeks (grew up in Browning's home county).

Times have changed in many places, but some still hold the line!

here in Italy usually they don't ask questions when you're absent, and also almost everything is excusable because it's more about whether the parents kept him home or he skipped school, not about why he was not there. Medical reasons, Personal reasons, almost everything's excusable. Just remember you need to have at least 75% attendance or you fail no matter why you were absent.
