Waaay back Wednesday everyone! Hope this finds you well. Back to an era I actually remember with some fondness. Yes the disco era. Although I was too young to be hanging at Disco clubs (Discotheques?), I was still old enough to hear many of the tunes on the radio airwaves and to some degree my older siblings and their friends. Some of them I enjoyed. Today's short features one such tune. The title track from 1979 debut album by Amii Stewart. The title track was written years before by Steve Cropper and appeared on the Eddie Floyd album also titled Knock On Wood, in 1967.
Amii Stewarts album however, was an album that possibly featured some of the first "sampling" to go along with the Disco beats. Though technically it's not sampling since the music was being played by musicians in the studio and not just "insert original recording here". Though that isn't anything I've researched or know much about. The title track is one of at least two though, the other being "Light My Fire" by the Doors (Titled Light My Fire/137 Disco Heaven on this album).
Anyway. Kinda switching things up today...sorta. I do enjoy varity and so I'll stay true to myself first and foremost. I dig this one. I hope some of you will as well. Hope to see you all next time. Take care friends.
