Circular polarization is used a lot in radio too. A circularly polarized radio transmission can be received on any regular antenna in any orientation with a loss of only 3dB, although if you receive with a circular polarized antenna, you have the same right/left issue (roughly speaking, all or nothing)

Wow, just the other day when I was on a Nature walk thru a trail, saw a bunch of Dung beetles and noticed that some of em were vivid, metallic blue while the others were a dull brown. Thought they were sexually dimorphic. And two days later, this pops up on my feed. Mind blowing

The beetles didn't figure anything out, evolution did. Also, they don't actively avoid their predators. They're not that intelligent. Predators don't see them, due to evolutionary advancement.
