I place the blade in a bath of applecider vinegear for close to two hours. It should have been in there for longer, but I start doubting the process and get impatient. A steel brush shows that the bath worked and the result could have been better but I continue anyways! The handle is made from birch. The tapered and squared tang presents a problem since my drills are round, but I work around it by using a small sawblade and manually sawing the whole squared. Some glue, the original ring and hammering and the shaft is set! I grind the edge on the tormak and it gets sharp enough to shave some hairs off, which is a good trade off point for my present skill level, time vs sharpness. I'm pleased with the result!
