I can understand the refusal to drive an expensive car. Even if you didn't damage it, the owner might claim you did. Then you might be in a world of trouble. If the owner of the vehicle had to sign a waiver, that might work.

I went to a drink with my friend in Nanning a few years ago, he was drunk and called a designated driver and I thought that was a good idea. I never heard this concept anywhere else though.

In China drunk driving is a crime. You can't get away with a fine. It stays on your record. If a state owned company staff is caught drunk driving he will be fired immediately.

In South Africa the driver would show, take your wallet, phone AND your car.

in my hometown here in the Philippines, fatal car accidents are usually caused by DUI . It's good to know that China has this platform so that the rest of Asia can follow suit.

Been reading Chinese novels since 2015 and yes, I read about this and I thought that it's just a concept before until I've watched some shows and news in China 😅

often found this kind of driver in chinese novels that i read.
the fu-er-dai got drunk with his friends, and because his friends were also drunk, they called a driver to take him home. something like that.
at first i thought the driver was that young master's own driver. but actually the driver is like an uber but he drives that young master's own car 😂

practical. i like the idea. but the recruitment must be quite strict, considered they often have to drive rich people or even woman in drunken state

This is actually a really good concept that Uber and other online taxi services should invest into, especially in the US where drunk driving cases is very high

And they should also include a premium service for luxury cars such as ferrari and rolls royce

Substitute drivers are common, but instead of putting their bikes inside the customers' cars, they have another vehicle for delivering and picking up drivers. The first thing a substitute driver asks is your final destination, and they immediately report it to the other car. They paid by hourly. But no traffic at night, sometimes they drives in short distance which takes 10-20 minutes and still paid 1 hour fee.
