My old judo instructor, I trained with for a year and he never offered to promote me even once. I had medaled at local tournaments, volunteered my time as a timekeeper at shiais and performed well in randori amongst fellow lower ranked belts. Although I have prior newaza experience (practicing BJJ for 10+ yrs), I felt i was a good listener during class if nothing else. Oh well. White belt for life.

I start judo almost 1 year ago becouse of my son . I send him for judo at 7years old now he is 11 . In future I hope to workout with my son . Regardless your videos are great i watch you and I try to do the thing what I see on your videos and this really works ! Huge love bro you are great

we do graduation where we have to do like 7 diffrent throws and then we get ranked up

I like the Japanese one. White all the way until basic competency and then black. If people want higher dan grades you can focus on Nage no kata and all that

It's not great for business but I prefer traditional schools white brown black

Time based promotion is the reason all those "black belts" and "masters" got demolished by guys like Royce, Shamrock, Severn, etc. The rank should represent pressure-tested skill like other sports and systems.
