I recently built an amazing aquarium that not only is home to many different fish, snails, and shrimp, but also produced crop plants for me to eat in the connected aquaponic grow beds.

I rarely see anyone keep glofish, especially not in such a fancy setup! Your tank looks gorgeous, im sure your fish are very happy in there

I've been into "aquaponics" for well over a decade, without making any attempt to actually start one myself... but it honestly seems like one of the most natural, dense and complete food cycles possible (by utilizing edible varieties for all "members" of the cycle) I can't believe it hasn't become more mainstream; it is the ultimate means for growing all necessary nutrients with the least waste in the smallest space; the future of agriculture!

Can you talk more how you set up this system/a tutorial of how someone else would do it? I have a hydroponic tower, but this seems a lot more efficient since I also have an aquarium

Cool setup, one of the few well thought out aquaponics systems I saw. On your sump though: the shrimp will sadly lose color, if you interbreed different color morphs the see-through/white wild type will appear in the coming generations.

So i suppose you could do this with edible aquarium creatures as well to make the whole thing even more useful

Thatโ€™s awesome! Iโ€™m planning on making something similar. I want to grow my own food despite being in an apartment and having something beautiful and self sustaining along with it
