Don't be afraid to do unconventional routes in finance either! Since September 2021, where my salary was £21k (as an AAT level 4 qualified accountant in a medium sized practice mind you) I have since over doubled that by moving across 3 jobs in 6 month stints, both in permanent and contract roles. It's not for everyone, but certainly worth considering.

What number of people are polled for these statistics and where in the UK do those questioned live/work?
I live in North Lincolnshire, whenever I hear these average income reports I'm curious about the figures.
I don't know a single person who earns 32,000 from full time employment even if they have been in the job over 3 years.
Self employed construction workers earn more but if they are subcontracting & the work is sporadic, they can earn less over a 1-2 year period compared to self employed tradesmen that work renovation/installation.

Corporate careers are life changing, literally. When I was 18 I had very poor a level results and worked for minimum wage washing pots in a kitchen. After Uni I started on 27,000 and now 7 years later I’m earning 50,000 and interviewing for roles at 80,000.
