Nope, the Mark 1 and Mark 2 suits were mostly practical with a few fully cgi scenes and cgi additions/tweaks. But the Mark 3 was largely fully CGI. However they still used a practical suit as it made for good reference for the texture artists, which is a huge part of why the textures look so good and realistic.

The reason most people say that is because theres a popular interview of RDJ saying the suit was almost entirely practical in yhe beginning. Hard to argue with the man himself.
