Indonesian Halal Restaurant

For more than 27 years, Toko Rame has served up a taste of Indonesian cuisine in SoCal. In fact, the current owner has been there from the start when she began as the head cook.
As this was my first time trying Indonesian food, I went with the owner’s recommendation of Nasi Bungkus. This popular Indonesian meal includes rice, beef rendang (chunky pieces of tender beef with dried curry), fried chicken, hardboiled egg, veggie curry, and chili sauces wrapped in banana leaf. (If that sounds like a lot of food, it is!) I also got an order of egg rolls. It was a great and fulfilling meal that I would eat again. My total cost came to about $25.
Finally, Toko’s staff provided a verbal statement the restaurant only uses halal meat on its menu. Additionally, the halal restaurant does not sell alcohol.
