Julie's Italian Meatballs and Sauce is a classic dish that is sure to delight your taste buds and transport you to the heart of Italy. This recipe is perfect for a family dinner or a special occasion, and it is easy to make.

Ingredients:

For the meatballs:

1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

For the sauce:

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Use your hands to form the mixture into golf-ball-sized meatballs.

3. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until browned and cooked through.

4. While the meatballs are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the onion is softened and translucent.

5. Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir to combine and bring the sauce to a simmer.

6. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

7. Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the saucepan with the sauce. Stir gently to coat the meatballs in the sauce and let them simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes.

8. Serve the meatballs and sauce hot over your favorite pasta, garnished with additional grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy!

This recipe serves 4-6 people and can be easily doubled for larger gatherings. Bon appétit!
