We had a (Chinese)girl who grew up in NYC in the army with us in Ketchikan Alaska and we went to a Chinese restaurant and out of the blue she talks to the elderly lady and order her food in Chinese, she never did that any other time 😂😂

Some lady asked if I was Chinese when I worked retail as a kid and I flat out said no. I was having a bad day and it seemed like everybody wanted something form me that day. The pharmacist looked at me like I was crazy (I was a tech then, don't worry just a PT help —not official and it was at a box retailer). He was like but aren't you? I said yea but I can tell she wanted to asked me technical medicine questions as her English is non-existent and I don't speak Mandarin (Canto tho) so I immediately ex'd that interaction out. 🤣 You can tell she wanted free Dr's advice and I was like nope. That ain't it today. Normally, I'm obliging and that's prob why I get harassed all the time. You can't be nice to strays sometimes. 🤣

Same thing with haitians. When I see or hear them out in public? I don't ever let them know I can speak Kreole. Sometimes they're suspicious of you, so they'll say something and look at your face for a reaction to see if you understood what they said. 😂
