Sorry don't mean to be rude if you already know typically if birds are pecking at your tomatoes they want the water from the tomatoes a way to counter it is a bird bath. They prefer the birdbath but you can absolutely pick them a tad bit early and let ripen in window like some of your comments mention

I tie different size organza bags over my tomato clusters to protect them from pest damage once the fruit has formed. Maybe try something like that š¤
