How come youve welded the outside first? We always weld the inside sealing run first, then weld the fillet on the outside well wherever ive worked for the last 20yrs we have done anyway

I’ve not been involved in pipe fitting of that size for 30 years, back then it was always stick, I assume mig is the modern way ?

Just curious, what reason did you chose SMAW to do the back weld?
Was that a repair, or WPS requirement to do a back weld?

You might want to wrap the pipe with copper wire and clamp your ground on it to keep that flange safe from arcing
