When I started out in embroidery over a decade ago I purchased Brothread and Sumthread 40wt sets to get more bang for my buck! Since then I've upgraded my machines and the blanks so I've added better brands like Madeira, Kingstar (metallics), Gunold and Sulky. I had to add a 2nd set of 60wt threads for my business because I use alot of microfonts. I added glow in the dark threads recently for Halloween projects but haven't had time to use them yet! I have a gazillion sets of threads (embroidery, sewing, serging, etc) and I'm kind of obsessed with them!!!

I have Robison Anton, Sim thread. Madera ,Coats&Clark, Brother, Radiant Thread, Isacord, Sulky and some metallics with no name. I use Madera and Brother bobbin fill , also Brother and Singer pre wound bobbins.i use mostly Poly machine embroidery thread but I still have some rayon in my stash.
