Ngl ikkaku not going to the royal palace is some BS.
His zanpakuto obviously doesn’t respect him taking that long to wake up in bankai, and it’s probably because he hides his bankai so hozukimaru thinks ikkaku is ashamed of him.
He should’ve went to the royal palace and gotten the renji treatment

I think people are forgetting that there’s a massive gap between the small amount of soul reapers that actually received Division Zero’s Training & didn’t. As the infamous Squad 11 you’d think the ranks would naturally be off the roof but it’s truly only Zaraki which is understandable but the entirety of the squad feels somewhat lacking especially with the absence of Yachiru. We can include Yumichika once he gets “desperate” but that’s 2/10 chance honestly once comrades are around him. Which leaves Ikkaku who I like was given decent screen time in his battle with Zombie Bambietta & Giselle, they highlight his ability to adapt when restrict from his normal tactics and interestingly his durability when he tanked some hits from Zombie Tōshirō. The biggest thing Ikkaku & uninvolved characters can do is play some pivotal role in showcasing a new better portrayed win that ultimately adds in the Gotei’s victory. I like the handle Kubo has because even in the last episode the anime gives us more members invading Wahrwelt compared to the manga.

I also change Ikakku's opponent to be a privarone espada instead of a fraction
This would show the gap between fraction and privarone espadas and made Ichigo, uruyu and chad's fights more scary

I would love to more character development from Yumechika. He'll feel powerless against an enemy and cannot protect anyone but himself so releases his shikai and bankai. I can see him as a captain through hard training.

I can definitely see the sentiment, but truthfully the perception of his character would have still been rather poor this way, especially if that was the only change - establishing arrancars as a threat by having Ikkaku die to beat a Fracción would have been nice, but then we would go on to see Izuru, Shuhei, Yumichika, Renji, Rangiku and even Omaeda deal with similar opponents in **shikai**. It'd either make Ikkaku look incredibly, almost impossibly weak, or make Edrad (the arrancar) look way more threatening and powerful than some of the Espada
It's hardly a good decision unless the story afterwards is rewritten, and if it's being rewritten already, then Ikkaku can receive spotlight as well...

Im pretty sure ikkaku is going to help in the fight with Gerard in the anime. Maybe they can have yumichika expose his true zanpakuto there as well. Although that would be tough since thats pretty much exactly what uryu did to renji by draining his spiritual pressure. Kubo ran out of new abilities i guess.

Pretty sure Kubo still had plans for his development, but being a C or D plot character, those stories were scrapped due to time constraints like the fleshing out needed for some of the B plot cast and antagonists.
Ikkaku's story would likely have revolved around learning to express his true strength by engaging with who he is rather than following Kinpachi, stepping up as a captain after gaining his bankais respect and true name.

I don’t think he should’ve died. We have seen that sometimes what a character desires is not the same as what their sword desires. And their behavior/decisions could be the reason that their sword is so fragile. It is possible that he doesn’t know the real name of his sword and could learn it in the future. Also we don’t have a timeline for how long he’s known Bankai. They say it takes 10 years minimum to Master Bankai. But Toshiro has had a bankai since before he was in the Academy. We know he’s been a part of squad 10 for at least 15-20 years before the beginning of the main story. And he still hadn’t mastered it at the end of the story. Every character is a little different and even though Ikkaku didn’t get much attention after that point doesn’t mean he don’t have the potential.

I agree, because if I knew that Ikkaku was going to be nerf by the futur révélation of Bankai’s can’t be repaired. They should have just killed my boy off with a Warrior’s death, have him kill the opponent, but be to injured to survive his wounds yet have him standing when he dies showing him, and by proxy Squad 11 members, are strong warriors.
It would also leave a impact on Ichigo because Ikkaku was the first Soul Reaper to fight Ichigo when him and his friends broke in to save Rukia.

Watching OG bleach for the 1st time aint worried about spoilers since im caught up with TYBW but ikkaku dying against No.2 espada’s Lt (forget the name they use) but it was the big guy the only one who broke the pillar like that dude killing (whom i think) was the strongest pillar guard would of made it obvious that a captain had to take him down which the wolf guy did indeed show up and rock that man with his bankai
