They wouldn't have done better with power. With power they would've been horrible bosses who at least emotionally attac there employees, bosses who make studies to show tabacoo isn't that bad when they know better, been abusive husbands and fathers etc. There's no proof they wearn't dangerus.
And there's no proof a men of good character starts to shoot others when he dosn't feel powerfull.

i wouldn't say they turn to violence to enact "masculinity" but rather as a last resort to feel in control, since the main issue is feeling powerless and "not in control". I hate to be the one who says that, but I'd say that's a commonly shared trait amongst us all male, female and others. Women traditionally will take control in other ways, probably more internalised, like ... eating disorders, neurotic, ocd like behaviour. It's just the same coping mechanism in a different flavour. However the case could be made that a men acting out on his feelings of helplessness are much more destructive and dangerous for the people in his impact zone.

The problem is men's need to feel powerful. The problem with all of humanity is its need to feel powerful.
Why do we need this?
Why do we convince ourselves it is a good thing?
With Great Power comes Great Responsibility.
We seem to have a LOT of irresponsible people in powerful positions they didn't earn giving advice to those they've stolen the power from, but if you peek behind the curtain, it's like the Wizard of Oz.
How sad.

Even though school shooters are usually powerless men, don't ignore the way that men with power use that power to hurt others. Think of Havery Weinstein, Donald Trump, etc. Or even just a regular male boss who uses his position to coerce his female employees into doing sexual favors. They sure as hell don't feel powerless

The most dangerous man is one with no morals. Who uses fear and intimidation to get what he wants. The powerless are just disenfranchised.
If those school shooters were truly powerless they wouldn't have gotten a firearm. That's just a gun control/access issue. If we had standby cops or army men of at least 2 on standby at each school with alternating patrols and a single lookout with camera/CCTV we would have far less school shootings. Also metal detectors are a thing.
I don't understand how people can talk about the same issues over and over but never seem to have any answers. Rather just clickbait titles to drive interaction.
Like if YouTube would simply do pinned content in the homepage for saftey and education we wouldn't need 1000 videos all discussing the same scenario.
Those school shooters failed to get recognition besides from the media and news outlets who perpetuate the same cycle of copycat killers. Students could have riot shields for example or the teacher. There's so many solutions but the best one starts at home with gun safety.

No, powerful men are more dangerous. In an individual sense, sure, powerless men can become violent. The majority of men are powerless, and they haven't been responsible for all of the wars we've had, or genocides, or manufactured famines. Those were all brought to us by powerful men who believed that they were better and special, and all other people are like ants. Even Elliot Roger could never dream of committing the absolute carnage that Winston Churchill wrought. But Winston Churchill thought he was being a real man, a patriarch to all of the United Kingdom. And did anyone hold him accountable? Of course not. He was England's patriarch, they're still clapping and cheering for him, Bengal Famine or no.
This is the damage that great men pose. Not to individuals. To the entire collective of humanity.

Iāve been frustrated, poor, depressed, and lonely, but Iāve never physically hurt anyone because I left my violence behind as a child. Men need to realize that violence is not a path to power.
