I am often asked if foxes make good pets, but honestly I think that’s the wrong question. Foxes are foxes and they are going to behave like foxes. I know it’s just semantics, at the end of the day, bur we prefer the wording that not all people or families, are the ideal fox owners. It’s not the Foxes fault it behaves like a fox, it’s the owners duty to do enough research to understand their needs and behavior. A fox is not a good fit for most people, but that doesn’t make the FOX bad. They are a fox, and they are going to behave like one. You have to change your life to fit them, not the other way around. That being said, we do understand that sometimes things just don’t go as hoped or planned and circumstances can change. We don’t want anyone to feel guilty if they come to a point where surrendering their fox to a rescue becomes necessary. We will never shame or place blame. It’s our mission to provide education and support to fox owners and potential fox owners, so that foxes can remain in their first homes as their forever home, and take them in to our care or find placement when necessary.
