Always ALWAYS use purple primer! Inspectors LOVE it! Also they will say something if they don't see purple primer =P And don't do what a co-worker of mine did, he used purple primer to coat his tape measure not knowing what primer actually does! It heats the pipe up to make a better connection and cleans it! So you can guess what happened to the tape measure, it came apart while he was using it!
